งานออกแบบภายใต้โจทย์สำหรับนักออกแบบที่ถูกคัดเลือกในรอบ shortlist สำหรับการออกแบบผลิตภัณฑ์ใหม่ของแบรนด์ Monsoon Tea โจทย์หลัก (Design Task) คือ ออกแบบผลิตภัณฑ์สำหรับ “ชา Monsoon – ชาเขียวญี่ปุ่นที่ปลูกในดินแดนล้านนา ภาคเหนือของประเทศไทย” แบรนด์ที่ให้ความสำคัญเรื่องการอยู่ร่วมกันกับธรรมชาติ การเกื้อกูลกันในระบบนิเวศน์ และความยั่งยืน Biodiversity and Sustainability

เรื่องเล่าผ่านลวดลาย กระดาษห่อ กระป๋องชา

ลวดลายบนบรรจุภัณฑ์ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจากกระดาษ Chiyogami (千代紙) หรือที่รู้จักกันในชื่อกระดาษ Yuzen (友禅紙) ซึ่งเป็นกระดาษวาชิแบบดั้งเดิมของญี่ปุ่นที่มีลักษณะเด่นคือลวดลายที่เรียบง่าย เช่น ดอกไม้ นก และคลื่น ซึ่งมักใช้ในงานตกแต่งและห่อของขวัญ

เราออกแบบลวดลายใหม่ในแนวคิด "Wisdom of the Forest" ที่ประกอบขึ้นจากภาพสัญลักษณ์ ใบชา Monsoon เป็นองค์ประกอบหลัก, ชาวเขาผู้เก็บเกี่ยวใบชา, แมลงขนาดเล็กในฐานะผู้พิทักษ์ระบบนิเวศ โทนสีที่ใช้ชวนให้นึกถึงสุนทรียภาพแบบญี่ปุ่น พร้อมมีเนื้อหาแนะนำวิธีการดูแลตัวเองให้ดำรงสภาวะที่สงบในโลกที่วุ่นวาย

        This project was designed as part of a shortlisted design task for the selection of a graphic designer for Monsoon Tea’s new product launch. The brief centered on “Monsoon Tea – Thailand-Grown Japanese Green Tea,” a product made from Japanese cultivars grown in Northern Thailand.

Story Telling Through Pattern

        The design explores a fusion of Japanese tradition and Thai biodiversity, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and sense of origin. The canister wrap draws inspiration from Chiyogami (千代紙), also known as Yuzen paper (友禅紙)—a traditional Japanese washi characterized by simply motifs such as florals, birds, and waves, commonly used in decorative arts and gift wrapping.

       Reinterpreting this tradition, the pattern was developed as a narrative device to communicate the values of Monsoon Tea. It incorporates illustrated icons of hill tribe harvesters as stewards of cultivation, small forest insects as guardians of the ecosystem, and Monsoon tea leaves as the central element. These components are composed into a cohesive pattern system, supported by a color palette that evokes a distinctly Japanese aesthetic while remaining rooted in the ecological richness of Northern Thailand.
